Nighthour Solid by Max Infeld of xerographer.com is a free decorative display font with broad, dark letters and exaggerated, uneven serifs. Its lumpy contours, pinched joins, and shifting widths give the lettering the rough-cut look of old wood type rather than a polished revival.
That unruly silhouette can suit horror film graphics and music posters, but it also has the handmade weight for barbecue packaging and tavern signage. It is strongest when a title needs to look printed, battered, and slightly strange.
