Opti-Cred Bold by Andrew Young is a free futuristic digital display font modeled on machine-readable codes. Its extremely narrow letters use rounded upright bars, broken by small gaps and short cross strokes. The dense forms have a strict, engineered rhythm.
Packaging is an apt medium for its barcode pattern, as are technology posters, electronic music covers, and science-fiction game graphics. There, the lettering can merge with scan lines, interface markings, or circuit imagery and become part of the graphic texture.
