Author's note
Painful Typewriter by Woodcutter Manero is a free eroded typewriter display font with the blunt, battered feel of an old ribbon striking uneven paper. The letters look worn down at the edges and clogged in places, giving the whole design a rough analog rhythm that feels more salvaged than nostalgic.
That makes it a strong free font for pulp posters, zine covers, film title cards, band flyers, packaging, and book jackets that want a bruised, printed voice. It also works well for short headlines and pull quotes, where the broken texture does much of the talking and keeps even simple words feeling tense and handmade.
