Author's note

Qua Nauticale Initials No 2 by Manfred Klein, after an unknown printer and Paul Lloyd, is a free Gothic initials font with a seafaring frame around the letters. The alphabet feels like something cut for an old naval document - bold black initials set inside square cartouches ringed with rope-like ornament, shell details, and small maritime flourishes.

It suits bookplates, chapter openings, certificates, menu headings, period posters, and title cards where a single letter can carry both history and decoration. As a free font, it works especially well for drop caps and monograms, because the heavy letterform and engraved border arrive as one compact emblem rather than just an isolated initial.
