Author's note
RootSquare by Michael Wallner of theTYPEfetish is a free bitmap pixel font with a blunt, game-era rhythm. The letters are built from square steps and chunky right angles, giving the font a crisp, modular beat while the rounded forms still feel neatly boxed in.
It fits poster headlines, music flyers, arcade-inspired branding, zine covers, and screen-based title cards where that blocky grid is part of the message. As a free font, RootSquare also works well for short labels, logo sketches, and interface-style graphics, because its compact pixel structure keeps every word feeling deliberate and sharply coded.
