Author's note
Searle is a free curly display font with the unruly silhouette of hand-cut storybook lettering. Its changing stroke widths, hooked tips, and uneven curves keep the letters lively and slightly strange.
Fantasy, folklore, and eccentric period imagery offer the best setting for these twisting forms. Book covers and theatrical posters can use their spindly flourishes to suggest a mischievous tale, and game graphics or novelty packaging gain a similarly handmade edge. On merchandise, the lettering can become part of an illustrated creature, forest sign, or magical emblem, linking the type directly to fairy-tale and comic fantasy themes with a touch of dark humor.
