Author's note

Treehouse font by Élise Benoît of Microtype Fonts is a free comic display typeface with the rough-and-tumble charm of a handmade sign on a clubhouse door. Its chunky, tall letters wobble and lean with a playful bounce, like they’ve been cut from construction paper and glued slightly off-center. The inky black shapes feel bold and friendly at the same time, instantly setting a fun, kid-forward tone without slipping into chaos.

Using Treehouse, this free font shines on children’s book covers, birthday invitations, classroom posters, camp flyers, toy packaging, and playful social graphics. The tight, irregular rhythm pulls the eye through a word in one smooth swoop, so short headlines and big titles really pop. For a simple pairing, combine Treehouse for headings with a clean rounded sans for body text, and keep Treehouse large to let its quirky curves and wobbly energy do the storytelling.
