Typographer Rotunda Alt by Dieter Steffmann of Typographer Mediengestaltung is a free rotunda blackletter font with broad, calligraphic strokes and sharply cut feet. Its rounded letter bodies and uneven wedge-like tops recall medieval manuscript hands without excessive ornament.
Themes of heraldry, folklore, and early European history make it a convincing choice for book covers and museum graphics. It also suits fantasy game packaging and period event posters. Their pen-made forms recall illuminated manuscripts and old civic lettering.
