Author's note

Weird Typewrite font by Aleks Martinez of Weird Typewrite is a free eroded typewriter display typeface that looks like it’s been hammered out on a haunted, jam-prone machine. Each letter is blotchy, jittery, and worn at the edges, with inky blobs and broken outlines that feel raw and unsettling rather than neat or nostalgic. The irregular spacing and wobbling verticals give your words a nervous energy, as if the message was rushed out in a panic.

Using Weird Typewrite, you can push titles and short phrases to the foreground on horror posters, thriller book covers, zines, escape room graphics, album art, and eerie YouTube thumbnails. This free font shines when it’s big and loud, letting the grime and noise do the storytelling. For legibility, pair it with a clean, simple sans serif for body copy and keep Weird Typewrite as the distressed voice for headlines and key accents.
