Luxi Serif, designed by Kris Holmes and Charles Bigelow of Bigelow & Holmes Inc., is a free high-contrast serif with crisp, upright forms and a distinctly formal bearing. Broad vertical strokes meet fine hairlines and firm serifs, producing lettering that feels controlled and bookish rather than ornamental.

It can establish a refined editorial voice in magazine mastheads and book covers, or lend the same measured authority to museum branding and cultural event posters. The generous curves, sharp stroke changes, and classical proportions make publishing its most convincing setting, especially for titles that need the dignity of a traditional serif without elaborate historical decoration.
