WOFF2 compresses fonts for the web. Removing unused characters can reduce file size further, or you can keep every character for more flexibility.

What does subsetting mean?

Subsetting means keeping only some of a font’s characters, such as the letters and symbols your website uses. It does not add missing characters. If you are unsure, choose “Keep all characters”.

Which optimization setting should I choose?

Use “Balanced” for most websites. Choose “Smallest files” when every kilobyte matters and test small text carefully. Choose “Keep everything” for complex typography or when exact original rendering matters.

Which character option should I choose?

Use language groups for a quick starting point, or Unicode ranges to pick specific character blocks. “Only my text” suits a heading or fixed phrase. Choose “Keep all characters” if your content may change or you are unsure. No option can add characters missing from the original font.

Will my fonts be added to Fonts2u?

No. The webfont generator creates a download for you; it does not submit your uploaded fonts to the Fonts2u catalogue.
